The tool considers your age, occupation, and health conditions to determine your position across eight priority stages defined by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
The calculator uses India's published phased approach: Phase 1a (healthcare workers including doctors, nurses, and hospital staff), Phase 1b (frontline workers including police, paramilitary forces, sanitation workers, and disaster management volunteers), Phase 2a (all people aged 60+ regardless of health status), Phase 2b (people aged 45-59 with specified comorbidities), Phase 3 (all people aged 45-59), Phase 4 (all adults aged 18-44), Phase 5 (adolescents aged 15-17), and Phase 6 (children aged 12-14). Your priority phase is determined by whichever criteria places you in the earliest phase.
The estimated wait time is calculated by dividing the number of people ahead of you by the effective weekly vaccination capacity (daily doses × 7, divided by 2 for two-dose regimens, adjusted for uptake rate). You can adjust the vaccination rate and uptake percentage to explore different rollout scenarios. India's total population of approximately 140 crore (1.4 billion) is used to estimate phase population sizes based on Census of India demographic data.
About India's COVID-19 Vaccination Drive
India began its COVID-19 vaccination programme on 16 January 2021, one of the largest vaccination drives in the world. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) granted emergency use authorisation to Covishield (AstraZeneca-Oxford manufactured by Serum Institute of India) and Covaxin (Bharat Biotech).
